Who doesn’t love a bit of glow? I know I do! Whatever the season and whatever the occasion – I love to give my skin a radiant boost. I have so many highlighting products it’s a bit ridiculous – but I’ve always got room to try out some more!
So imagine the overwhelming excitement when MAC announced their new MAC Hyper Real Glow palettes. That was back in January, and I had to wait until the very end of March for them to be launched in the UK (thanks for making us wait MAC!). Things got even better when they also dropped some new Strobe products in the same week! What more could a glow addict ask for?
MAC Hyper Real Glow
Let’s start with the holy grail! MAC have always had some amazing highlighters (Mineralize Skinfinish, Extra Dimension Skinfinish and their Lustre Drops – which sadly are limited edition peeps!), but they’ve been lacking in the highlighter palette department. I’ve got great highlighting palettes from NARS, BECCA, Bobbi Brown and Anastasia Beverley Hills so it’s high time that MAC caught up.
MAC Hyper Real Glow is available in two colour ranges, Get It Glowin’ (three gorgeous gold tones) and Flash and Awe (some rose gold beauties). Being the glow fiend that I am, I had to get both! At £35 each, they’re not a bad price for a highlighting palette – they’re pretty chunky pans and NARS’ Bord de Plage was £45 (for 6 smaller pans) so I think that’s good value.
The texture of the product is incredible, it’s like a cream, but dries to a glowing, velvet-like finish. The colour is completely blend-able, so if you like a subtle highlight – this is the one for you, you can always add to it (with a dash of Fix+) to strengthen that finish.
This is absolutely going to be a staple for my bridal makeup – I can’t wait to create more looks with this.
MAC Strobe Body Lotion
Did I need another shimmering body product? No. But did I want this new release from MAC? Absolutely. If it was going to be as rich as the actual Strobe Cream, then I was going to have to get it.
Only available in Pinklite at the moment, this is ideal for days when you want your skin to be radiant. If you’ve been inspired to bare all during the recent sunny weather, this will be your perfect accessory. It has no overpowering scent, a lovely finish and it’s long-lasting too. Check out the finish here.
When you truly want to look sculpted – apply it to your collarbone/shoulder area – add a dash of highlighter (I’d go for MAC Extra Dimension Beaming Blush) and then spritz some new Fix+ Shimmer Pinklite over the top.
MAC Prep and Prime Fix+ Shimmer Pinklite
Fix+ used to be one product, a simple spray on makeup fixer that you can use before and after makeup to give you the perfect finish. Then they released scented versions and NOW they have amazing shimmer versions. Just as I’d bought a travel-sized version to make my own shimmering Fix+!
This product is great for adding that little touch of light to your face after finishing your makeup. If you’re like me, you’ll spend ages creating a beautiful glowing base for your face, that tends to get lost once the powder and contouring stages kick in…
The great thing about this is that it isn’t too packed with shimmer – it’s just the right amount – so I can see why it’s going to be popular already! I’m hoping they’ll make these more permanent as the gold one is sold out at MAC and I really want it now!
If you like a subtle, complexion-boosting glow – then Fix+ Prep and Prime Fix+ in Pinklite is ideal! Hopefully one day they’ll release mini versions too so that I can take them on my travels!
MAC’s latest releases will no doubt appeal to those who love to create a flawless, luminous complexion – and I am one of those who’s hooked already!
Have you tried any of MAC’s Strobe or MAC Hyper Real Glow products yet? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
