Going #outofthisworld with Benefit BadGal Bang! Mascara

Going #outofthisworld with Benefit BadGal Bang! Mascara

Something out of this world has landed…

I was very lucky to be one of the first to try out Benefit’s latest innovation, the Benefit BadGal Bang! mascara. I was invited to the big launch in London and a second event at the Escentual HQ in Cardiff (more on that later), both featuring a space theme and a load of cocktails from Be At One.

Secretly I was hoping for a highlighter palette or some insane new eyeshadows, so when the big reveal turned out to be a mascara – the product that Benefit already have in some great formulas. BUT, the disappointment evaporated into the atmosphere after I gave it a go. Hello to my new favourite mascara.

What makes BadGal Bang so ‘out of this world’?

BadGang Bang! has been YEARS in the making, using space technology to come up with this latest gravity-defying formula. Featuring ‘aero particles,’ BadGal Bang promises to deliver incredible volume like never before and up to 36 hours hours of wear. Why you would want to wear mascara for 36 hours, I don’t know – but the option is there.

The formula is super-black, which is exactly how I like my mascara. A super-black liquid eyeliner would also be nice, #justsaying. And even though I wasn’t going to open mine until I ran out of my current mascara (MAC InExtreme), I was caught short the very next day and still had this in the Darley.

Putting BadGal Bang! to the test

So how does it wear, you ask? My first impressions are definitely on the positive end of the scale.

I am having major lash panic ahead of my wedding (do I go natural? wear strip lashes? Extensions are already a resounding ‘no’), so finding a good mascara is at the top of my list of wedding prep.

The brush has had some mixed reactions online already, but I think it’s a great brush – it’s light and doesn’t stick, and you get the exact amount of product you need on the brush. It’s also easy to apply so if you’re the type to poke themselves in the eye with a mascara brush (like me!), you shouldn’t struggle with this one.

Take a look at the difference between my lashes (sorry about the quality of the photos!) – pretty amazing isn’t it. They look thicker, longer and more lifted – which is all I’m looking for really!

The mascara does wear well and I didn’t experience flaking or smudging throughout the day so I know it has staying power.

The one drawback I would say is that I found it difficult to remove. I love using baby oil to take eye makeup off because it’s easy and it’s cheap – but when you’re faced with a waterproof formula that’s obviously not going to work. Luckily I’ve got some micellar water so that’ll have to do the job for now.

Launch event in London

The Benefit team outdid themselves with their global launch and I was lucky to be invited to their big London launch to be one of the first to get my hands on it. The evening was full of cocktails and space-themed quirkiness that certainly made for a great spectacle. There was a lot of excitement in the room and plenty going on once the mascara itself was launched.

I will say it was nice to get about six weeks notice for the event. While I don’t get invited to many London events, the ones I do usually come with a week’s notice, which isn’t great for out of London bloggers – plus they’re often on a Wednesday or Thursday night which makes it difficult to plan at short notice. So thanks Benefit for the long heads up, it was certainly appreciated by this Welshie!

Exploring the Escentual HQ in Cardiff

As I left the London event I got an email from the lovely Antonia at Escentual inviting me to an event at their Cardiff offices. I love Escentual and love that it’s a Welsh company doing impressive things so I jumped at the chance.

This event was a much more relaxed occasion and I loved it. It was amazing to explore the offices and get a behind the scenes sneak peek at Escentual! They have a Makeup Forever makeup room which is INCREDIBLE and will soon have a salon in there too!

They also put out a load of fragrances on display which I spent a lot of time trying out – I think my favourite was Gucci Bloom which I’m going to have to treat myself to soon!

The team are fantastic and so welcoming so I hope to go back there soon for anything else they have planned in the future. Make sure you check out their site because they sell some great brands including Benefit, Dior, Nuxe and others so it’s worth checking out.

I’m thrilled with BadGal Bang! so far and can’t wait to hear what others think! Pick up yours now at Escentual for £21.50. And if you only want a sample, they also sell it in a bargain travel size for £10.

Wow lucky you being invited to a launch event. I’ve heard all the hype around this mascara and it looks fab on you (we have very similar colour eyes) ! I have mixed feeling about Benefit as I’m leaning towards cruelty free brands a bit more these days. Gotta love their marketing and packaging though! They’ve definitely got that right. They were selling these mascaras on QVC and sold 10,000 in 24 hours or something ridiculous like that, so it’s definitely a popular one. Hope you continue to get great results with it. Oh and I’m desperate for Gucci Bloom. Good choice.

Yeah the China aspect is a difficult one for brands that are otherwise cruelty free. 10,000 mascaras?!?! That’s incredible!!!! X

I have heard so much about this mascara and it makes everyone’s lashes look phenomenal. I don’t mind if mascaras are difficult to remove because I always use an oil based eye makeup remover, which takes makeup right off. I’ll definitely add it to my list of things to try soon.

    Lovely post! x

I bought this mascara after seeing numerous positive reviews on it and omg I’m in love. It honestly makes my eyelashes look so long and voluminous.
