The Weekly Beauty Round-Up – 17 October 2018

The Weekly Beauty Round-Up – 17 October 2018

It’s time for my second weekly beauty round-up! Aren’t I being good with the regular blogging and everything! I’ve got a good mix of products for you this week featuring some new entries and older favourites. Get your shopping list at the ready as you’re going to want to add these to it!

1. MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick in Scattered Petals, £17.50

I bought three of the MAC Powder Kiss lipsticks when they launched a couple of weeks ago. Yes, just three. That was a good number to get to after starting out with 11 in my basket (no joke). My MAC lipstick collection is ENORMOUS, so I haven’t really bought many new shades recently. I wish I could say it’s because I wasn’t buying any lipstick at all, but I was still buying Charlotte Tilbury ones…

Anyway, I’m a big fan of this formula already! I love matte lipsticks but they can be awfully drying, especially when your lips are already on the dry side like mine (yes, I do drink enough water). This is like putting a super pigmented lip balm on. The colour is a soft matte which looks beautiful on, almost like astain – but you can build it up or wear over liner for a deeper shade. Scattered Petals is my favourite of the three and the most worth of being featured in the beauty round-up. It’s the perfect everyday pink and super super flattering. It lasts for a long time and the packaging is a velvety smooth beauty that’s different to other MAC lippies. I’m in love!

2. John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Shampoo and Conditioner (Currently £4 each at Boots!)

I love being a blonde. I’ve tried to go brunette twice in my life and it just didn’t work for me. My hair is far too fine and short and it just didn’t have any ooomph! So blonde it is for me. Like many blondes, I struggle with keeping that icey freshness, so a purple shampoo is a must. I normally buy premium haircare brands but times were tough on my last shampoo run, so I picked up these beauties in Boots. They’re always on a 3 for 2 deal and I am beyond pleased with how they restore my hair. I use the shampoo twice a week, leaving it soak in on one of the days for longer. My hair feels nicely refreshed afterwards and super clean too! Proof that not all of my beauty round-up buys come with a high price tag!

3. Browcote, £6.99 (currently £5.99 at Boots!)

Remember Lipcote? The miracle cult product that leaves lipstick locked in place for hours? I certainly do and now the same company have brought out a new wonder product – Browcote! They sent me one to try a couple of weeks ago and I’m loving it so far. Easy to apply, with no fragrance (can’t stand that gel-style smell), they’ve made my eyebrows look incredible! It’s £5.99 to buy so much, much cheaper than premium brands! It’s a bit on the small side but I reckon this will last me around 4 months, which isn’t bad at all for the price!

4.& Other Stories Body Lotion in Miami Muse, £7

I love a good body lotion. In my bid to hold on to my honeymoon tan, I need to lather my body in anything that will hydrate my skin. My beautiful best friend bought me this and the (long gone) shower gel from & Other Stories and I absolutely love the smell. It’s a pink pepper/candy floss combo that is gorgeous but isn’t as sweet as it sounds! The perfect product for this week’s beauty round-up!

There’s plenty of substance behind the style too – take a look at these ingredients:

  • Meadowfoam seed oil to provide moisturisation
  • Macadamia oil gives a luxurious skin feel
  • Sweet almond oil which is naturally rich in Vitamin E and leaves skin soft and smooth
  • Shea butter to bring profound skin nutrition

The bottle is lasting ages so and I’ll definitely invest in the shower gel next time I’m in London to save me dollar on Stories’ crazy delivery prices!

5. NARS Wanted Palette, £55.

This is a bit of a classic palette for me now, and I use it regularly to create gorgeous eye looks. It was going to be my wedding palette before I switched to a MAC one last-minute, but it easily would have done the trick.

NARS eyeshadows are very underrated. The pigments and finishes on them are amazing and I think their palettes are actually quite good value. Get one from ASOS or Space NK during a 20% off day and you’ll save a lot! This palette has some stunning pink and gold shades which you can use to create both subtle and dramatic looks. I’ve experimented with the redder shades before and loved the looks you can do with it. One to add to your Christmas list perhaps?

And there we go for another beauty round-up week! Next week’s might be a little more Christmassy with all of the holiday collections finally dropping so stay tuned!
