I’m a bit late in posting this one but it’s been a bit crazy lately and my blog keeps taking a back seat. Last month I was thrilled to be invited to the official launch of the new Marco Pierre White restaurant in Cardiff.
A fantastic hotel in a great location
The restaurant is located in the new Indigo hotel, and I’ve been waiting for it to open since they announced it was coming. I’ve been to Indigos in Birmingham and Rome and they are very well known for their rooftop bars – so I couldn’t wait to see what Cardiff’s had to offer.
The hotel entrance is located in the Dominion Arcade off Queen Street. It’s such a classic arcade and I was always sad that it didn’t have much in there anymore. My favourite ever sandwich shop was there (Sandwiched in the City, RIP) but I’m glad to see it’s getting some love again.
The launch party was a very elaborate affair – there were dancers on stilts, some live music and an ice luge in the shape of a cow (I had to ask why it was a cow – ‘Uh, it’s a steak restaurant so….’). The booze was free flowing and everyone was in such a wonderful, happy mood.
The restaurant is split into two main areas – the bar and the restaurant. The bar is very stylish and great if you fancy a classier night out with your friends or other half. The restaurant itself is gorgeous – I love the decor. I’m a big fan of grey and a lot of the furniture is what I picture having in my living room when I eventually buy a house.
You’ve also got the roof terrace, which offers some unexpectedly lovely views of Cardiff. I didn’t spend much time out there because it was FREEZING, but I will definitely be out there during the summer months!
The food at Marco Pierre White Cardiff
The best part of the night, for me anyway, was the food. It’s so good! They brought out loads of different samples from the menu to try and I was so impressed with everything. I can’t wait to go and have a sit down meal in the restaurant – I think I’ll head there for my birthday.
The restaurants are best-known for their steak options, and judging by what I tried – a full steak there is going to be amazing!
It was also nice to catch up with some of my fellow Cardiff-based bloggers. Find out what the lovely Becky at Dose of B had to say about the evening here.
The rooms
Me and a few other bloggers were given a tour of the rooms – they were really impressive. They wanted to make the hotel themed according to its location, so the rooms have a bit of a Welsh theme, but with a modern, urban feel. They’re great! All neutrals and darker tones – I love them. Even though the rooms have somewhat of a cool feel, there are cosy features like sheepskin and rocking chairs – they’re very instagrammable.
If you’re planning a visit to Cardiff, definitely book a room here – it’s such a central location. You’ll be close to everything and you can take advantage of the hotel’s amazing features too.
If you haven’t been to Marco Pierre White Cardiff yet, make sure you go check it out. It’s great when new places open in the city, so go and find out what all the fuss is about. I might see you there!
Very nice handbag. I love original accessories. I invite you to my works: real leather bags
